The series centres on a mother/daughter relationship across two generations. In 1990s Sydney, Gwen leaves her husband and twelve year old daughter Marla to embark on a three month fling overseas.

She then returns home in the hope of patching things up, but the ripple effect of this act wreaks havoc on Marla’s life. Many years later in Darwin in the 2010s, this personal history begins to impact Marla’s own relationship to motherhood as she forms her own family. Estrangement seems to be the only solution…will Marla and Gwen manage to find a way back to being in each other’s lives?
